Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will have an exclusive mode called Smash Tour, Nintendo announced during its Nintendo Direct today. The mode plays like a board game, pitting up to four Miis against one another. Players spin a wheel to advance around the map, collecting power-ups — similar to the ones found in Smash Run on 3DS — and fighters as they progress. If two Miis land on the same space, all players are forced to battle it out against one another using fighters in the order they have been acquired. But players should be careful, because losing a match may end up allowing an opponent to steal one of their fighters away from their lineup.
Special events will also randomly take place, forcing players to be on their toes at all times. During the Direct, a Bullet Bill is shown hurling itself toward the map, obliterating three different players at once. We'll have more details on these special events in the near future.
After a player has reached the final checkpoint in Smash Tour, a final showdown will take place in which all of the power-ups each person has collected will be applied to his or her fighters. The final battle is also a stock showdown, with lives being comprised of the fighters collected throughout the game. So, players with more fighters at the end will have an advantage.
