For any of you who still hold out some hope of there ever being a third installment to the acclaimed Half-Life series, this might be some bad news. Chet Faliszek, the last remaining primary writer for the series, has just left Valve for new opportunities after twelve years on the job.

Over his career at Valve, Faliszek contributed to the writing of both Episode DLC packs for the Half-Life 2 series, both Portal games, and both Left 4 Dead games. He said that his departure from the company was "nothing exciting or drama filled. I worked there 12 years, shipped a bunch of great games and some amazing hardware and wanted to change things up." Chet's change of scenery means that all of the primary writing talent involved in the Half-Life series is now gone from Valve, and the fabled Half-Life 3 is proving even more elusive than before.

We wish Faliszek well in whatever path he heads down next! Even so, do you think our prayers for Half-Life 3 will ever be answered without the talents of Chet and his fellow writers? Is Half-Life 3 doomed to be a dream forever? Let us know in the comments below!
