Pokémon has been one of the biggest video game franchises in the world for two decades now, but its popularity reached new heights thanks to the launch of Pokémon GO. The immensely popular mobile app is smashing download records all over the world, and it's on pace to dwarf the revenue of any main series entry in existence. Because of this, some fans are worried that The Pokémon Company might be tempted to shift their primary focus to mobile development.
According to CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, that's not likely to happen. Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Ishihara expressed that "the chance of finding success in taking a product made for one platform and bringing it over to another is quite low." Ishihara didn't specifically rule out the possibility, but it looks like a mobile version of main series Pokémon games is not something that's in consideration at this time.
