Update: The weather system will arrive later this month as a separate update, but Gen III Pokémon are still coming later in the week.
Original: Attention, Pokémon Trainers! A big update is planned for release later this week for Niantic's Pokémon GO, one that will surely delight those who grew up playing Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, if not their recent respective remakes. Among the likes of Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, fifty more Hoenn region Pokémon will soon be available for capture within the mobile game—joining their spookier compatriots from the Halloween update—as well as a dynamic weather system that will affect gameplay.
Trainers will now have to track their local weather forecasts to make the most of the upcoming update, as everything from windy days to snowy skies will influence which Pokémon will show up in the field and which moves might perform better under certain conditions. For example, Mudkip are more likely to show during rainy periods, while Charizard's Fire Spin gains a boost from harsh sunlight, likely ensuring a fresher gameplay experience as seasons change. The above teaser trailer also features other Hoenn favorites such as Salamence, Shiftry, Aggron, Ludicolo, and the legendary Groudon. Niantic also promises that there will be no weather exclusives with the upcoming update.
Will you be picking up Pokémon GO again once the world of Hoenn is introduced this week? If you're still playing, did you manage to find Ho-Oh yet? Share your thoughts in the comments.
