Research firm Goo Ranking has polled Japanese gamers to create a list of the top 48 games released for the original PlayStation. The roleplaying classic Final Fantasy VII tops the rankings, followed by the Resident Evil series and the Japan-only adventure title Boku no Natsuyasumi. Goo Ranking unfortunately listed the games of some series collectively, but the rankings are interesting nonetheless, especially as an illustration of how different the taste of Japanese gamers can be compared to those of Westerners. A lot of the list is made up of games and series that either were never released in the West or never took off there like they did in their home country.
