It's been many years since Sony first teased that they were working on a film adaptation of Naughty Dog's iconic Uncharted franchise, but there's been little to show for it. Sony dropped it from their release schedule after multiple delays, and we recently learned that the project lost its director for the fourth time, casting serious doubt on its future. However, today we have much more positive news to report.
Variety recently broke the news that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg has been chosen to take over the movie. Hopefully, the fifth time is a charm. Along with the new director, the Uncharted movie also has a new script penned by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker.
In 2017, Deadline reported that Spider-Man's Tom Holland would be playing a young Nathan Drake in the movie, and it appears that's still the plan. Shortly after the news broke, Holland tweeted out "So I spoke to Sony..." It's not much, but it's the most progress we've seen for the project in years.
