Nintendo recently announced that Super Smash Bros. is officially coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. The teaser trailer revealed Splatoon's Inklings as playable characters alongside Mario and Link with a re-designed model from Breath of the Wild. Fans have begun wishing and speculating about what new characters will be added to the roster, and Funimation has even requested Goku, but one of the most popular requests is Banjo-Kazooie.

Back when Rare worked exclusively with Nintendo, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie were critically acclaimed successes on Nintendo 64, and Nintendo fans have had a fondness for the bird and bear duo ever since. Microsoft is in charge of the brand these days, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for them to make a Nintendo comeback. In fact, Xbox head Phil Spencer stated in an interview back in 2016 that he'd put Banjo and Kazooie in Smash Bros. in a second if he could. Spencer went on to say that he loves Nintendo and would absolutely work with them if given the chance.

We don't know how Nintendo feels about the idea (and it didn't pan out for Smash on 3DS and Wii U), but Spencer's willingness hasn't wavered. Following the Smash reveal for Switch, Spencer was asked if he'd still support Banjo and Kazooie in Smash, and he answered positively. The ball is in your court now, Nintendo.
