Super Mario 64 was one of the first great 3D adventure games and has served as an inspiration to countless developers. The Nintendo 64 classic saw a remake on DS, but it's never been given the HD treatment. Maybe that will change on Nintendo Switch, but until then, a talented fan has stepped in to fill that gap.

Modder CryZENx has created a demo of Super Mario 64's opening moments, and it's available to download now. The demo is currently restricted to the area outside of Peach's Castle, but it's an impressive recreation thus far. You can make use of all of Mario's various moves, like triple jumping, wall jumping, diving, and more. You can even swim in the moat or climb onto the roof of the castle.

This demo was built using Epic's Unreal Engine 4. You can check out plenty of footage above, or, if you'd like to try it for yourself, you can download it by clicking here.
