The glory days of Rare-designed 3D platformers are long gone, but Playtonic Games is looking to revive them with Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee. The highly-anticipated debut from Playtonic launches on April 11th, and in addition to its main campaign, it has eight different multiplayer modes. If that's not enough, Playtonic has revealed that Yooka-Laylee will also have a co-op mode for the main campaign.

Rather than splitting Yooka and Laylee up, the co-op mode gives a second player control of "the Bee Team." In addition to being a solid pun (not as good as the Ghost Writers though), the Bee Team can grab quills, collect and store butterflies, stop traps and more. Playtonic has always pitched Yooka-Laylee (and its predecessors) as a "buddy duo" game, so it's really great to see them introduce a co-op element to the main quest.
