This was one of the talking points on a recent episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia, and we hope this means big things for Nintendo's presence in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts, or keep reading below for a brief, brief summary.
I suggest that Nintendo and the Tokyo Olympic committee should make an arrangement where rather than creating yet another round of bland, quickly-forgotten Olympic mascots, they should use the cast of the Mario games. If Nintendo wants to position themselves as an entertainment icon, there's possibly no better move.
Ben adds that another powerful move they could make is airing Super Bowl commercials, like The Pokémon Company did recently, though that would indeed cost a pretty penny.
