The CEO of The Pokémon Company recently said the NX "changes what it means to be a handheld or a home console," and said that they'll make Pokémon games for the system. He also said that main series Pokémon games couldn't find success on mobile platforms.
This was one of the talking points on this week's episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia, and we're not feeling it. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts, or keep reading below for a brief, brief summary.
Neither of the first two statements are anything surprising, but it's crazy to think main series Pokémon games wouldn't do well on mobile platforms. The classic games up through the Game Boy Advance era are already enormously popular through emulators, so releasing them officially would be an absolute gold mine. Future installments in the main series surely wouldn't come to mobile, but the revenue structure could probably support it just fine.
