Nintendo 3DS owners were treated to Pokémon Sun and Moon: Special Demo Version last week. Our experiences playing this demo were a major talking point on this week's episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia, and we love a lot about Alola. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts, or keep reading below for a brief, brief summary.
We think the world of Alola is gorgeous, and Game Freak has greatly impressed us all with the improvements in presentation they've made in Sun and Moon, from the animation, to the environmental detail, to the cutscene direction, and more. And beyond that we love the improvements in the user interface; they make much better use of their menu space on the touch screen, making it more approachable for newcomers without intruding too far on the way long-time fans battle.
Alex also brings up a recurring issue in recent Pokémon games, however, expressing that the games' world design isn't very good; much of the space we can explore in the demo is barren or geographically boring.
If you like the video, you can subscribe to Nintendo Week on iTunes, where we release new episodes every Wednesday, or you could check out the full episode. If you don't like long-form podcasts, you can subscribe to us on YouTube, where our discussion segments are uploaded on Thursdays, and these select snippets from the rest of the podcast—which we call NWC—are uploaded throughout the week. If you like what you hear, we'd love it if you leave us a review on iTunes, where you can find episodes covering tons of other subjects, or send us your feedback! We'd love to know what you think of the show, and how you think we can improve it.
