The Game Awards are taking place tonight, and Nintendo's presence there is one to watch. The show's going to feature several reveals of big-name games, and naturally Nintendo's offerings are prime contenders for major announcements.
This was one of our talking points on this week's episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts on the chances for announcements at The Game Awards, or keep reading for a brief, brief summary.
Alex questions whether Nintendo will discuss Metroid Prime: Federation Force, seeing how often Reggie is asked about Metroid titles any time he appears at major Western-based shows, but we think the backlash against that title is enough that Nintendo will want to keep it quiet. Pikmin 4 is another possibility, seeing as we know it's nearly complete but haven't seen absolutely anything of it yet. Nintendo may not discuss it, though, simply because Pikmin is one of their least-popular active franchises. Finally, there's been a ton of talk about upcoming Zelda games for Wii U. Zelda U is almost guaranteed to get another major reveal, we think, but Twilight Princess HD is too similar to a decade-old game to be worth trotting out on this kind of stage.
