MTV recently interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto about the prospect of several Nintendo films, and they specifically asked whether he's making a feature-length Pikmin movie. He laughed and said it's "a secret," he can't comment on... and we think that means yes.
This is one of the subjects we discussed on this week's episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia. Be sure to check out the short discussion video above for our full thoughts on a Pikmin movie, or keep reading for a brief (albeit much less detailed) summary.
Pikmin makes a great choice for a feature film because of a great mass appeal it has with its cute, charming characters. The Pikmin Short Movies are already here and they're incredible, so Miyamoto would do a great job on a feature film, we can safely assume. But perhaps the most natural way it can make the jump is because the appeal of Pikmin isn't in deep characters, but in the environments and the little antics the Pikmin themselves get into.
