Latest Xbox 360 Updates

Hot on the trails of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Medal of Honor: Airborne, a couple of new games have found their way over to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program. Available to play on Xbox One right now, Injustice: Gods Among Us (and its disc-only Ultimate Edition) and Atari's Haunted House have been added to the program. Haunted House is the 2010 sequel to the 1982 classic Haunted House, which is one of the earliest examples of a survival horror game. If you don't have either Injustice or Haunted House, you can purchase them through the Xbox store.

A few days ago, on November 18th, Microsoft kicked off its Black Friday sale for this year, with several dozen special deals available on the Xbox Store for games on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. These discounts are only the beginning of this year's sale, however. On November 25th—the official day of Black Friday in the United States—Microsoft launches its full sale, with over 250 different games at discounts ranging from 40% to 60% off. On top of that, Microsoft will be offering a huge discount on Xbox Live Gold Memberships: if you purchase a subscription in the next few days, your first month of Xbox Live Gold will cost on $1, instead of the usual price of $9.99.

The NPD Group has released their sales report for the month of October, highlighting software and hardware data in the US, including Xbox One's fourth straight month as the top-selling home console. In software, Battlefield 1 was the big winner despite launching late in the month, and a record-breaking beta is likely to thank for the game's strong start. Mafia III and Gears of War 4 also made the top five, while Civilization VI and Titanfall 2 checked in at eighth and ninth place, respectively. You can check out the full list by clicking below!

Halo is one of the most popular and beloved franchises in all of gaming, boasting over 70 million game sales, and in just three days the iconic franchise will celebrate its 15th anniversary. As part of the festivities, Microsoft will be holding a special anniversary livestream on November 15th, beginning at 3:43 PM (a nod to developer 343 Industries) Pacific Time. We're not sure what all to expect from this presentation, but Microsoft has just released a short teaser trailer for the event, and you can check it out by clicking below!

Xbox One launched without backwards compatibility, but Microsoft has been steadily providing that feature to fans on a game-by-game basis, and the library of backwards compatible games just got a little bigger. As part of Mass Effect's N7 Day celebrations, Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb (better known as Major Nelson) has just announced that Mass Effect 2 and 3 will become backwards compatible on Xbox One today, and the official website clarifies that this only applies to physical copies. The first game is already backwards compatible, so now you can play all three on Xbox One.

Take-Two Interactive recently held a financial call to discuss results from the quarter that ended on September 30th. During the course of the conversation, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that the immensely popular evergreen title Grand Theft Auto V has reached another milestone. Across current generation consoles, last generation consoles, and PC, Grand Theft Auto V has now shipped over 70 million copies worldwide. Despite launching over three years ago, Grand Theft Auto V consistently charts in the top five in the US to this day.

Xbox One launched without backwards compatibility, but Microsoft has been steadily providing that feature to fans on a game-by-game basis. Project Scorpio (a new and improved version of Xbox One with superior hardware) will launch next holiday season, and some fans have been asking if it will support Xbox 360 backwards compatibility as well. Unsurprisingly, the answer is yes, and this has now been officially confirmed by Microsoft executive Mike Ybarra via Twitter, erasing any doubt.

Halloween is just around the corner, and Mojang is celebrating with a special three-in-one spooky bundle for Minecraft on consoles. The Spooky Bundle contains the Halloween Mash-up (featuring a pre-built spooky world for you to explore), the Halloween Battle Map, and the Campfire Tales Skin Pack. You can now grab all three of these in one bundle for $6.99 on any console edition of Minecraft. You can also check out a trailer for the Spooky Bundle by clicking below!

Over the course of the past year, Telltale Games has released Minecraft: Story Mode, a cinematic point-and-click adventure title based on Minecraft, the ever-popular Swedish sandbox game. Minecraft: Story Mode was divided into eight separate "episodes," and digital copies of these episodes were released individually between October 2015 and September 2016 on multiple platforms.

Yesterday, Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure, a physical collection that contains all eight episodes of the game, launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To commemorate the release of the new collection, Telltale Games published a launch trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode, which can be seen after the jump!

One of my most anticipated expansions for LEGO Dimensions is launching in just over a month. Starting November 18th, retailers will be carrying the Sonic Level Pack, which includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Speedster, and The Tornado as physical figurines. While we don't have any footage of the new levels, we now know a little bit more about what characters will appear in the new content. Joining Sonic and Dr. Eggman in the lineup, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, and fan favorite Big the Cat will enter the fun as well. Here's hoping we set off on an adventure to find Froggy!
